Höfundur Bruce McMillan

Written and photo-illustrated by Bruce McMillan In a tiny fishing village in Iceland, two boats are ready to take you and young Friðrik fishing. Grandfather Friðrik fishes with hooks for cod. Grandfather Haddi fishes with nets for lumpfish, a very ugly fish. Young Friðrik lives in the land of fish. There are fish illustrations on the money coins and on postage stamps. The leading export is fish. Though one grandfather is a doctor and the other a school custodian, in the summer they become fishermen also. This summer they are passing their Icelandic traditions on to their grandson. You are welcome to join young Friðrik in the city of Reykjavík to begin your Icelandic fishing adventure – but don´t forget your hat. Bruce McMillan has written and illustrated more children´s books set in Iceland than any other U.S. author. Going Fishing is his sixth book about that country and his forty-third overall. He often spends his summers in Iceland, though he resides in Shapleigh, Maine. Bruce holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Maine and has received numerous awards and honours for his children´s books. His previous book, Days of the Ducklings, features Friðrik´s young aunt and takes place in the same waters as Going Fishing. His most honoured children´s book to date is Night of the Pufflings, which takes place on an island off Iceland´s southern coast.Smelltu hér til að sjá bókina á íslensku Click here to see the Icelandic version
